Terrible easterly gale during night - quite the worst I've experienced in Levin. Our W.C. blown over + slightly damaged - pines in hedge alongside far 42 knocked about. Went over to "Cheslyn Rise" at 10 am + found extensive damage - two big gumtrees on cattle yards, ake ake hedge on west side orchard blown down, orchards + garden (board) fences partially wrenched off pile, half the big macrocarpas round

old limit of Home Bush blown over, weeping willows by Koputaroa Stream smashed, and many minor wreckages. Uncle Bert had a chimney blown down. Wind abated about 2 pm. Finished putting covering boards on cart shed + staked up trees in P. Muricata hedge, etc.
