Tues. Aug. 1.
Wet day. Helped hayfeed at "Cheslyn Rise" + then drove up to Sonoma in cart, taking 1/4 cwt [hundredweight] barb wire + staples. Before going up, I cut nine pieces from sycamore trees in "Cheslyn Rise" drive + put them in at intervals along my drive at "Woodside". Big slip on road in 3rd cutting + had to go ahead to get pick + shovel to clear enough away to get cart past. Loaded up cart with 72 bricks,

pieces of iron rail, timber etc. + returned, rain falling steadily.
