Scott unable to go up river an acc[ount] of swollen hand ao Andy went up with me for the day. Mustered ewes + rams off Mill p[addock] into

Ram p. for the day. We rode up to east bdy. alongside "1st burn" + sawed up hinau + maire logs for posts. Two hinau logs were rather rotten so we wasted some time, but got enough good timber to keep me going with the splitting for some time. Andy returned home + I stayed at whare. The remarkable day weather continues (cold frosty nights + hot clear days) so the feed is getting rather short on all parts of block even on Mill p. Stock looking well however. Read "Roads of Destiny" short stories by O'Henry - some very good.
