Ernie + I again up to hilltop via Narby's spur carrying loads of material. Cut posts out of a hinau log on my "burn" - thick green sap + terribly tough splitting so only got 8 posts for morning's work. In afternoon

cut 6 more posts from another log + carried all to fence-line. Got strainer to position. On way home saw the 13 £2.40 steers on Leighton p[addock] the 23 steers on Mill p. also the big missing bullock on south end + 7 of the 8 steers in the same paddock. Also found a third patch of Californian thistles - on Ohau Flat above track down to Ohau gate. Home for night. British naval raid on German sea base in Belgium, Zeebruge + reduced shipyard (with 6 submarine boats railed in sections from Germany) wharves, military trains etc to a scrap-heap. Further Russian victories in West Poland + Asia Minor.
