Overview
Thurs. Sept. 24.
Shepherding + moving sheep. Father engaged a man aged 35, John Blanford, to work on home farm. In afternoon Father + I rode up to South Block to shepherd ewes. Easterly wind + showers + a wet evening terminated the fortnight's fine weather. Three British cruisers, 12,000 tons each, torpedoed by two German submarines in North Sea - the latter were afterwards sunk. Farewell to NZ's Expeditionary Force in Wellington today.
