Chilly + showery. After final parting with my darling + good wishes from the rest of family caught Napier Mail for Levin, work and another three month's absense [sic]. The Belgians inflicted a defeat on the Germans at Termonde by cutting the dykes + flooding country. The Germans have deflected their advance on Paris to the south-west.
