Wet night – showery till 8.30 am – very cold SW wind came up + blew all day. Cut hinau posts in Leighton p[addock] on top terrace beside main ravine + part way up Crescent Spur for the sheep-yards + got over 30. Just before dinner we put rams in Ram p. + moved about 55 ewes off lower part of Leighton p. – some of these are very poor, feed on Leighton’s p. being very scarce now. Anstice saw another lamb here. Leaving him to trim posts, I went shepherding up Crescent + down Trunk Spur visiting the felled bush where Grange is working en route – he is working north from top Trunk Spur. Found a terribly poor ewe too lame to walk – carried her down to Mill p. + doctored her feet - about time sheep-yards were erected + ready for drafting out such ewes etc.
