Lowering [?my best guess] day with heavy showers. Anstice + I rode up to North Block + finished putting the battens laid out on east bdy [boundary] fence. 80 or 90 more will be required to reach strainer at summit rata We went into the lush looking for a green rimu to cut more battens but only found soome huge ones. Founda good hinau however which with one on the "Ohau Summit" will split all the posts we need. Started sawing up the batten log. Rode down to Levin in evening - wet night. Read "The Prodigal Judge" by Vaughan Kester - a rather fine book.
