good talk somewhat broken up by “Captain” Esther who will persist in poking his nose into other people’s business. During morning “F” squadron was called out to [W] Mills Bldg to protect carters + we patrolled block for some time. At midday I got three hours leave + met Father in town – we went to Kirkcaldies for dinner – bought NZ Geol[ogical] Surv[ey] Bulletin 13 + Marshall’s “Geol[ogy] of NZ”, ¼ plate “Folding Kleto” for plates of films at £4 + film pack adapter + dark slides. Back to duty at 3 pm. Loafed about Rly [Railway] Depart[ment] for some time – rest of “F” Squadron on patrol duty. City very quiet + business going on much the same as usual. Strikers confine themselves to Post Office Square. In evening too tired to listen to concert + slept through it.
