Recognition:
- the scales at the base of the frond stalks are black or nearly-so.
- the sori are enclosed by indusia, that split irregularly at maturity.
- in Fiji, only (or principally) in the uplands.
Distribution: in Fiji, only known with certainty from the uplands of Viti Levu, but there are unconfirmed reports from mid altitudes. Also occurs in French Polynesia and New Zealand.
