Recognition:
- relatively large, black, plastic-like scales occur at the base of the stipes.
- the tertiary pinnae are lobed.
- the trunk is comparatively narrow.
- bare parts of the stipes are often distinctly green.
- small white scales are common on the undersides of the smaller axes of the frond, along with white hairs.
Distribution: in forest throughout Fiji. Widespread elsewhere in the Pacific, including Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, and the Cook Islands.
