Overview
Walter’s search for examples of art nouveau led him to Linley Woods Antiques in Willis Street, where he uncovered this vase with vibrant blue flowers in 1973. Its use of decorative, botanical motifs characterises the art-nouveau style.
The vase was designed by the acclaimed team of Léon-Victor Solon and John Wadsworth, who were responsible for Mintons’ ‘Secessionist ware’ range. The name refers to the Vienna Secession – an early 20th-century movement of artists and designers who sought new styles for the new century.
