Overview
A collection of 63 sculptures and wood engravings by Eric Gill and David Jones, as well as books, booklets, leaflets and ephemera published mainly by the St Dominic's Press and the Ditchling Press c.1913-1954, was bequeathed by Martin Hill in 2007. These rounded out existing Te Papa holdings by Gill and Jones, helping to illustrate the private press movement in Britain that had begun in the nineteenth century under the influence of William Morris and others in the Arts and Crafts movement.
