Oldest specimens in the recent bird skeleton collection

The oldest recent bird skeleton in the Te Papa collection is a musk duck from New South Wales, collected in 1869. The oldest New Zealand bird skeletons are of two New Zealand dotterels collected at Okarito in 1877.
