Overview
When debutantes were presented at Buckingham Palace for the last time in 1958, Brake was there. He chose to shoot around the main event, just as he had done at the NATO conference in 1957.
The traditional photographs seen in the society pages of newspapers or magazines would be flash-lit images of each young woman as she entered the palace, dressed in her finery. But Brake stayed outside with the press and the general public where the reception was less staged and less formal – and more interesting.
