To represent an event like a conference, a newspaper photographer might take a shot of speakers at the conference table or the important delegates arriving. However, the magazine photojournalist can move beyond the limitations of the single image to tell a story in a series of photographs.

Brake spent several days covering the NATO summit conference of 1957. He captured the main events but also photographed the preparations, delegates lobbying each other between sessions, and the evening soirées.
