Insects, spiders and allies

Entomology is the study of insects and their allies.

Te Papa's entomological collection encompasses insects, arachnids (spiders, mites, and allies), myriapods (millipedes and centipedes), velvet worms (onychophorans) and water bears (tardigrades).  Research focuses mainly on spiders and parasitic insects.
