Overview
The Collected Archives span a considerable breadth, and fall into two main groups. The first features New Zealand artists, such as Lois White, Leonard Mitchell etc. and a number of key New Zealand commercial art galleries.
A highlight in this group are the unpublished autobiographical manuscripts of the renowned New Zealand artist Sir Tosswill Woollaston.
The second group embraces a wide variety of other collected archival material including World War I ephemera (such as battle plans and correspondence) as well as documents left by important historical figures.
Highlights from this collection include the Felton Mathew Diary - New Zealand’s first Surveyor General and an eyewitness to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi - and the diary of a soldier who served in Gallipoli during World War I.
