A selection of bryophytes (mosses and liverworts) from herbarium material that Sir James Hector (Director of The Colonial Museum) acquired from the British Museum in the 19th century. Most of these bryophyte specimens are from Europe.

The Te Papa Herbarium has many other foreign bryophyte specimens that were acquired through various other acquisitions, donations, and exchanges.
