Overview
Wed. Feb. 20.
A perfect day, clear, bright + windless. At 9.30 Maud + I drove to Levin where I visited dentist. In pm prepared moulds for concrete strainer + posts. The wedding of the second daughter of Mr. + Mrs. F.R. Wright of Gladstone Rd took place to-day + after the ceremony in Levin, Queen St presented a remarkable sight being thronged with a continuous stream of cars speeding up to the reception at the house. 1/4pl. photo of the stream of cars + clouds of dust. Maud + I received invitations to the dance given in the evening in St Mary’s Hall, Levin, but only I was able to go + accompanied Clare in car. We arrived about 8.pm + were receieved by the hostess, Mrs. F.R. Wright. The hall was nicely deocrated + it was a most enjoyable function, well managed + got up, nice people, mostly from outside towns, good orchestra + floor. The programme was, unfortunately for me, mostly fox-trots but Mrs. F. Wright found me splendid partners for the Lancers + Waltz + I had an immense time. Was introduced to Mr. W.D. Hunt, the Bridegroom’s father, Mrs. Phil Wright of Apley, H.B., Mrs. Williams of Seatoun + Miss McClure of Wgton. I was also selected by the hostess as one of four to serve supper, + altogether had a good time in spite of doing my share of the wallflower act. We left at 12.30am; + Clare again stayed with us overnight. Showers of rain in evening.
