Overview
Fri. Jan. 19.
Wrists so bad + hands stiff + sore that almost unable to milk but managed by stripping. Took day off as could not work + drove Maud, Robin L. + Clyde out to Hokio Beach, Nancy spending the day at Frida Kemp’s. East wind blowing sand so could not get snug – Maud + I bashed – ¼ pl[ate]. photos (1) (2) (3) of Maud + children bathing. (4) Group of four Maori maidens. (5) Beach showing foam-edged wave sliding in. – a nature study. In evening resumed developing photos – ring on ‘phone from Fyfe from Levin rly. stn [railway station] – he and party had arrived by evening train + wished me to join them on trip over Tararuas via Dundas + Holdsworth. Offered to put them up for night but they decided to make for a camping place in Ohau Valley in order to get an early

start tomorrow. I rang up Will Stewart about the matter – he came in car + we went down Tararua Road, picked up party (Messrs Fyfe, Vosseler + Cownam) + drove them up to pipe bridge – then guided them up to South [Blk?] whare + left them at 10.pm to spend night there. A strong east wind + falling glass leaves the weather factor very doubtful.
