Up at 7.am – Uncle Will + I tramped out to Lyall Bay via Newtown + hill-road on east side of Newtown Park. Photos (15) Lyall Bay + Kilbirnie from hill road + (16) Evans Bay + part of Kilbirnie + Shag Pt [Point] Powerhouse under construction from same spot. The whole view is very fine. On arrival at beach hired togs + had a fine [bay – day?] photo (17) of Uncle Will in surf. Back to Fern Hill for breakfast at 10.30 – a good long walk. Went round garden with Uncle Will + took photos (18) of back yard (19) house from bottom of steep north lawn (20) city with Mt [Mount] Victoria from balcony. (21) Mt Cook + Alexandra Barracks, Technical School + Wellington College from top of steep north lawn; + later (22) Dulcie with hydrangeas + (23) Uncle Will, Aunt Edith + Dulcie. Spent pm. looking at photo albums in drawing room with Dulcie + Aunt Edith. Dulcie + I walked up to Uncle Robs to tea + in evening Agnes took us over to see Amy who now lives in north Kilbirnie as Mrs. Tom Ward. Found Tom Ward a very nice

chap + we spent a pleasant time + were shown over house which commands a fine view of the Kilbirnie isthmus – left at 10.pm. Wet evening + deluge of rain after reaching Fern Hill.
