Overview
The Roman province of Aquitaine was divided into three separate provinces in the 4th century CE. Aquitania Secunda was the northwestern portion, with its capital at Burdigala (Bordeaux) and comprising the future Bordelais, Poitou, Saintonge, Angoumois, and western Guienne.
