Kamakura

One of historically most important towns in Japan; selected by Minamoto Yoritomo as his residence & became seat of government of Japan from 1192 to 1333 when Hojo rulers fell; declined with rise of Tokyo's power 1603; site of Daibutsu, great Buddha.
