Overview
Inland county of Wales; divided into three districts. It includes Brecknockshire, Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire; named after Welsh princedom of Powys, which was powerful in 12th century. Comprises fertile valleys and central highlands; cattle and sheep raised on high slopes. There are Roman and Iron Age remains here. The county town is Llandrindod Wells.
