Germania Inferior

The northern portion of Roman Germania, it was east of Belgica and west of the Rhenus (Rhine River). The territory annexed by the Roman emperor Augustus and later expanded by Domitian (81-96); Domitian made the northernmost parts of Gallia Belgica into the separate province of Germania Inferior.
