Overview
Established by Theodosius in 395 CE; was a Christian empire that comprised the eastern half of the Roman Empire, which survived for 1000 years after western half crumbled into various feudal kingdoms; fell to Ottoman Turks in 1453; at the death of Justinian in 565 CE it included Asia Minor, Palestine, parts of North Africa, Greece, Italy, Sicily, Sardinia, Dalmatia, and southern Spain.
