View of a valley with houses. The image is described in the Otago Witness, dated 8 June 1867, page 12, as: "... the "Water of the Leith", from the Acclimatisation Society's grounds. The point chosen is judicious. The landscape is beautifully diversified. There are distant hills and nearer ranges clothed with wood, pretty cottages peeping out from among the trees, bright lights and deep shadows, cultivated ground and tangled bush."
