Overview

A pair of round shaped poi made of prepared raupō (bulrush) leaf wrapped longitudinally around a core of paper and tied with cotton thread at the neck.

Green painted raupō with purple plastic raffia has been used to create an external decorative cross pattern on each ball.

Muka (New Zealand flax fibre) protrudes from the ball of each poi to form a handle and has been prepared by miromiro (rolling technique) with a simple know forming each handle. Both poi have been tied together.
