The Peace Recipe Book

The Peace Recipe Book was produced by Elsie G. Harvey from Auckland. The book was sold door to door for two shillings and sixpence.

The front cover depicts a soldier with his right hand outstretched towards a dove who is holding a peace banner in its beak. The soldiers gun and tin hat lay at his feet. The front cover reads that 'Every recipe has been tested and is Guaranteed Economical'.

The recipe book contains sections on New Soups, Fish, Savouries Entrees, Puddings, Cakes, Scones, Bread, Pickles, Sauces, Sweet, Salads, Beverages, Jams, Jellies, Preserves, a Chart for Electric Stoves, and a handy hints section entitled 'These are worth knowing'.

The back cover reads 'An effort of a returned soldiers wife (Veteran African War)' Elsie G. Harvey, 1101 Great North Road, Point Chevalier, Auckland.
