EARINA MUCRONATA

A small genus, confined as at present known to New Zealand. Hook. fil. There are two species - E. Mucronata and E. Autumnalis. They are found in both the Northern and Middle Islands, growing on trees. The roots of E. Mucronata often completely encase the branch on which it grows. The whole plant can be scaled off, when it forms a lovely object to hang up in a fernery, with its numerous heads of pale yellow flowers, hanging on their slender stalks, amidst the long, narrow, grass-like leaves. It flowers in December and January. Waiwara.
