Overview
A small number of items relating to the Save Our Streets campaign: Save Our Streets was established in July 2004 and now has support from over 400 local businesses and creative whose enterprises and activities are embedded in Te Aro. Save Our Streets is committed to seeing development which enhances the character of this culture park in the heart of your city and to see the Cuba Quarter become a designated place for creative practices and small businesses. What do we want to do? During June 2005, Wellington City Council will review the District Plan for the Central Area, which includes Te Aro. Save Our Streets wants to see this process create a vision that will protect bars and venues from misplaced suburban dwellers’ noise complaints; encourage small business and creative enterprise; promote sheltered and sunny streetscapes; retain and preserve Te Aro’s historic character with integrity, not just a few lame facades.
