Overview
Items relating to Campaign for a Better City (CBC) and their campaign against the Wellington Inner City 'Bypass' (the bypass consists of a northbound road, formerly Buckle St, Arthur St and Karo Drive, linking the Basin Reserve to a Terrace Tunnel on-ramp. Southbound traffic travels on a one-way Vivian Street). The file contains printed ephemera, correspondence and jottings. There are references to the Urban Progression (Winter 1998) and Nana D’s Parlour (Summer 2001-2002) fashion collections. There is a copy of the student magazine Salient (Issue 7, 21 April 1997) which includes a feature on Laurie Foon. There is also a red spiral bound plastic folder containing a variety of items relating to By-Pass My Ass, including: stickers, newspaper clippings and a copy of the summary of the Environment Court decision (30/4/1999). Text from a piece of printed ephemera: People of Wellington, the proposed inner city bypass will go through a significant heritage area, of which 19 buildings are to be removed or demolished. Save our precious heritage and community. Vote for a council who will drop the bypass and regenerate Te Aro, a unique part of our city.
