Overview
This photograph features a woman dressed to represent a Siamese (Thai) dancer for the fundraising Red Cross Pageant held in September 1940 and/or the Victory Queen Carnival grand finale held in June 1941. Both events were held in the Wellington Town Hall. The costume was designed by Mollie Rodie.
Pageants and queen carnivals were popular ways to raise money during the Second World War (1939-45).
