Overview

This series contains costume design drawings and reference materials used by Liz Mitchell to design costumes for the characters of Television New Zealand's, television show 'Gloss'.

“Gloss”, created by Television New Zealand, was a soap opera similar to that of America’s "Dynasty". It followed the wealthy Redfern family and their fashion publishing company, and combined the affluence and 'yuppies' 1980s with power dressing and high fashion. Aired in the late 1980s, “Gloss” was the starting point for many prominent New Zealand actors/ actresses including: Temuera Morrison, Miranda Harcourt, Peter Elliot, Lisa Chappell and Kerry Smith.

During her employment at Television New Zealand, in the costume department, Liz Mitchell worked closely creating, designing and compiling the costumes for the characters in “Gloss”. This is displayed in the various costume design sheets, executing for Television New Zealand by Liz Mitchell within this series. Each drawing includes details of characters, actors, garment style, materials used and production method.
