Overview
Side wall posts in the porch and inside the house, supporting the rafters. Poupou alternate with tukutuku wall panels and are usually carved to represent ancestral figures. Sometimes they are uncarved, either painted with kowhaiwhai patterns or left plain. Poupou are often rebated along each side at the back to join neatly against the tukutuku and papaka panels
