Overview

Small metal-engraved emblems, produced ca. 1850-1880; usually printed in color and often embossed. Typical designs include medallions or shields with views of merchandise or business establishments. Found chiefly on commercial envelopes; also used on billheads, business cards, and as advertisements in publications. Considered a type of corner card by envelope collectors.
