Overview

Crowns crafted for the funeral ceremony of young, unmarried women in England from the 17th through the 19th centuries. Never intended to be worn, they consist of dome-shaped wooden frames decorated with ribbons, flowers, rosettes, and the names of the decreased. They were either carried before the coffin or placed upon it.
