presentation pieces

Articles intended to be given as a gift or on a special occasion, usually inscribed with information regarding the giver, the recipient and/or the occasion; often articles of silver, or pottery, or coins or medals specially struck. For copies of books or other publications, including prints, similarly intended and inscribed, use "presentation copies."
