Overview
Large cylindrical beakers usually made of glass, without a handle, and sometimes decorated with enamel or engraving, used for drinking beer and wine and made in Germany from the 16th century onwards. No surviving examples of Humpen date before the middle of the 16th century. The best examples originate from southern Germany but cannot be attributed to any particular manufacturer.
