Overview
An image-transfer procedure in which a photographic print (usually albumen) or oil painting is glued image side down to a glass plate and the image support rubbed off or otherwise removed. The remaining image is made translucent with oil or wax, may be enhanced with additional painting, and backing added. Popular from 1880's into the early 20th century.
