progressive proofs

Set of proofs showing the sequential and cumulative steps of a color printing process as each color is added. They are used to determine color density and the effect of each color on the other colors; any color corrections can be formulated for the platemaker. For a set of proofs showing each color from the process on an individual impression, use "color proofs."
