Overview
Proofs numbered separately from the edition, but often made at the same time as the edition, for the use of the artist. They are typically signed and marked in a special way and are usually sold at inflated prices. Artists' proofs are often the first 10 to 20 prints of a run; although the number of artists' proofs occasionally approaches that of the main edition, this practice is considered unethical.
