Overview
A controversial expression best used only with reference to discussions of the expression's usage and the definition adopted for a while by the Print Council of America in the 1960s, the essential features of which were that the artist alone must create the master image to print from and that photomechanical processes must not be used. For prints produced with the intention of their being works of art, use "prints"; for those made to reproduce work in another medium, use "reproductive prints."
