Pre-Columbian

Refers to the aboriginal Native American cultures that developed in North, South and Central America before the arrival of Christopher Columbus and other Europeans beginning in the late 15th century CE. The term is sometimes used more narrowly to only refer to early cultures from Mexico and Central and South America.
