Overview
The partial reversal of a black-and-white or color image caused by exposing it to light during development, the final image containing both positive and negative tonalities or colors. The process was discovered by French scientist Armand Sabattier in 1862. For the similar effect caused by overexposure of photographic emulsions use 'solarization.'
