China paper

Soft unsized fine-textured paper of bamboo fiber, originating in China, usually of a pale yellow color. Highly absorbent, its typical use is for steel engraving and woodcut proofs, and as lithographic transfer paper. Distinct from "India paper" which is softer and looser in its fiber bond, originally made for the Oxford University Press in imitation of paper from eastern Asia.
