Overview

An Internal Affairs Department sub-series relating to the administration of the Colonial/Dominion Museum.
As the content of these files was deemed relevant to the Museum's ongoing research and activities these files were transferred, by National Archives to the Museum in 1959.
It was decided that it made sense to include this series as part of the Museum's own records rather than as a collected archive (which, technically, it probably is) as most users will perceive these records to be part of the Museum's organisational record.
This series consists of museum deposits, purchases, bequest and loan items, development of historical collections, staff expeditions, research papers, information relating to the functioning of the Maori Arts and Craft Board with an emphasis on the growth and development of the Maori collections.
