Overview
This brooch is significant as a souvenir of the Auckland Industrial Exhibition which was held in the Auckland Domain. Inspired by the success of the 1906 Christchurch Exhibition, its official name was the 'Auckland Industrial, Agricultural and Mining Exhibition' and ran between 1 December 1913 and 18 April 1914. The profits from the exhibitions resulted in many improvements to the park, including the Wintergardens next to the duck ponds. The building depicted on this brooch was dismantled when the exhibition closed.
