Overview
In 2006, the Cook Island Manihiki community celebrated the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the Tauhunu vaka in New Zealand. The mayor of Manihiki, Kora Kora presented Te Papa with this pearl necklace to mark the occasion. This event renewed the connection between the people of Manihiki and their rare cultural treasure.
